Tom Clark

Tom Clark is the founder & principal of Hold Fast Leadership Partners, a coaching and consulting practice that provides strategic advising to nonprofit, education, and philanthropic leaders as they navigate challenges, change, and opportunity. In this capacity, Tom has worked with national foundations and youth-serving institutions on public affairs, high-stakes communication, fundraising, and organizational development. His approach is grounded in the belief that stability and resilience are essential to durable social impact.

Tom brings more than two decades of experience in mission-driven leadership to the Generation Citizen board. He served as Chief Strategy & Advancement Officer at KIPP DC Public Schools, where he oversaw fundraising, marketing, communications, student and staff recruitment, governance, and executive operations – helping to double the network’s enrollment and annual budget during a period of rapid growth. Prior to that, Tom held leadership roles at Teach For America in a variety of functions and helped launch a national education technology startup. He began his career as a high school Spanish teacher in Baltimore City Public Schools, and currently serves on the board of Mundo Verde Bilingual Public Charter School in Washington, D.C.

Tom holds a master’s in education from Johns Hopkins University and a bachelor’s degree in Spanish and journalism from Wake Forest University. He is also a Pahara Fellow through the Aspen Institute’s Global Leadership Network.
