Development Internship
Generation Citizen (dev-generation-citizen.pantheon.io/) is an innovative, quickly scaling non-profit that seeks to strengthen our nation’s democracy by empowering young people to become engaged and effective citizens. We envision a democracy in which every citizen participates in the political process. Generation Citizen (GC) teaches teenagers direct political action. Through an innovative in-class curriculum, students work with local leaders to fix local problems. Through this real-world experience, our teens are building an active democracy. GC currently brings our program to 10,000 students annually in New York, Greater Boston, Providence RI, and the Bay Area.
GC is seeking a passionate and driven individual to support local development efforts.Ā The Development Intern will work closely with the local Site Director for a minimum of 10 hours per week to support the development and execution of a fundraising plan. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a strong interest in a nonprofit career to develop highly valuable, marketable skills.
Responsibilities
- Research and identify new fundraising opportunities including, foundation grants, corporate sponsors and in-kind donations, and individual giving campaigns.
- Draft grants and sponsorship applications, solicit in-kind donations, and create materials for individual giving campaigns.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date development records.
- Provide support with donor reporting and communications.
Qualifications
- Exceptional written communication skills.
- Prior experience with event organization a plus, but not required.
- The ability to work well independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interest in non-profit work and civics education.
Compensation
- This is an unpaid internship.
- Students who are eligible may be able to utilize this position for work-study funds.

National Program Internship

Generation Citizen is seeking a passionate, driven individual to support all aspects of national programming. The National Program Intern will support program development and standardization efforts that positively impact all GC communities. Ā The intern will commit a minimum of 10 hours per week. Specifically, the National Program Intern will focus on the following areas:
Evaluation Responsibilities
- Support data collection, tracking, and entry.
- Support national data analysis.
- Make programmatic recommendations driven by data.
Program Content Development Responsibilities
- Create online learning content to enhance in-classroom learning of students and volunteers
- Create trainings for student advocacy fellowship
- Create workshops related to critical curricular concepts for use with volunteers and staff
- Develop manuals and guides for use by student leaders and staff
Qualifications
- Exceptional written communication skills.
- Background in Education and previous experience working with schools.
- Prior experience with program and workshop development.
- The ability to work well independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interest in non-profit work and civics education.
- Preferred: Proficiency in SalesForce and Excel.
