Ebonie Simpson

Ebonie Simpson’s passion and background sit at the intersection of social justice, equity, community efficacy, and public policy. She serves as Executive Director for the Mid-Atlantic Region, where she drives regional strategy, strengthens school and community partnerships, and leads initiatives that deepen young people’s civic agency and participation in local democracy.

Before joining Generation Citizen, Ebonie served as Executive Director of The New Majority NYC, a c3/c4 organization dedicated to building political power for women across New York City through civic leadership programs, community engagement, and electoral support for mission-aligned candidates.

Previously, Ebonie spent several years at The Lower Eastside Girls Club of New York, including serving as Co-Executive Director from 2020 to 2023. During her tenure, she oversaw government relations and special initiatives, created New Girl City—a citywide civic leadership program funded by the NYC Council—and led the launch of the Girls Club’s Center for Wellbeing and Happiness and its expansion to Brownsville, Brooklyn. She began her career as a 2012–13 NYC Urban Fellow and later served as an Associate Director in the NYC Mayor’s Office of Housing Recovery Operations.

Ebonie holds a BA in Public Policy Studies from Duke University and a Master in Public Policy from Princeton University. Her leadership has been recognized by the Manhattan Young Democrats, City & State’s Women 100, the New York State Assembly, and numerous city leaders. A proud Harlem resident, Ebonie enjoys spending time with her loved ones, live music, cooking and fine dining, watching great shows and films, and singing truth to power with the Resistance Revival Chorus.
