Wilfred Chirinos

Originally from Providence, Rhode Island, Wilfred is a Policy & Advocacy Manager on Generation Citizen’s Civic Voice and Policy team, a Boston University graduate, and a Master of Public Policy Candidate at Northeastern. At GC, he leads policy research, state-level advocacy, and data, impact, & evaluation while supporting GC’s coalition and field-building efforts.

Before joining GC, Wilfred worked extensively in his home state, serving as a campaign coordinator for RI Lt. Governor Sabina Matos’ first statewide campaign, an aide to the RI Black and Latino Legislative Caucus, a Teaching Fellow for Generation Teach Providence, and a youth leader for organizations such as Providence Student Union and RI for Community and Justice.

Wilfred’s passion for equitable action-centered civics education stems from his understanding that becoming knowledgeable about how your government is supposed to work for you and how to assert agency within it is empowering to those who often feel they lack the power to affect the world around them for the better.

Outside of work, he is a sports enthusiast who enjoys cooking, trying new foods, traveling, and spending time with his wife and their pets, Sesame and Peanut.
