Charlie currently is a Managing Director in the Global Technology Group at Stifel Financial, having sold his investment banking firm, Mooreland Partners, to Stifel in 2019. At Stifel, Charlie focuses on the electronics and industrial technology sectors. Mooreland Partners was a merger and acquisition advisory firm serving technology companies, and as a partner for 12 years, Charlie advised companies in the advanced manufacturing, smart mobility, renewable energy and other industrial technology sectors.
Prior to Mooreland, was a Managing Director and head of electronics investment banking at CIBC World Markets, and previously served in a similar capacity at PaineWebber. He started his investment banking career at Prudential Securities in New York. Prior to entering investment banking, Charlie was a consultant and project manager in the renewable energy sector, working on wind, solar and geothermal energy projects.
In addition to his professional career, Charlie has been involved in education issues as a trustee and member of several non-profit Boards: Lick-Wilmerding High School, Leadership High School, AIM High for High School, and the East Bay Center for the Performing Arts. In these roles he has served variously as Treasurer/finance committee chair, and a member of finance, audit, development, investment, and program committees. Charlie has also served on the Boards of several for-profit companies in the semiconductor and renewable energy sectors.
In addition to these roles, Charlie was a member of the Roadmap to Zero Advisory Board to the Board of Trustees at Swarthmore College. In this role he works with members of the Swarthmore community and other advisors to help develop a long-term energy plan for the college to reach carbon neutrality by 2035.
Charlie received a BA with honors in economics from Swarthmore College, and an MBA in finance from the University of Southern California.
Charlie has lived in Hillsborough, CA with his wife, Kristen for the past 25 years following 6 years living in San Francisco. Previously, he lived in New York, with earlier stints in Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. He and Kristen have two daughters, Erika and Alexis, both of whom are pursuing careers in the education field.
During his spare time, Charlie is an active gardener and enjoys hiking, international travel, and archaeology.
