Jayson comes to Generation Citizen after a career in both electoral politics and classroom teaching, and he feels this position combines his passions.
After graduating from Boston College with a degree in International Studies and Political Science, he took a job as a field organizer in New Hampshire on the 2012 Obama reelection campaign. He subsequently worked as the Massachusetts statewide volunteer coordinator for the Presidential Inaugural Committee. In 2013, he worked as the Youth Director on Ed Markey’s Senate campaign.
From 2013-2015 he served as a TFA Corps Member in Chicago, teaching elementary school on the South Side and organizing the Harry Potter Club (Wizard Wednesdays) and after-school basketball league.
From 2015-2020 he worked as a middle school social studies teacher in Boston’s Brooke Charter Schools, and in 2021 and 2022 he worked with Brooke on their civics projects (partnering with GC officially in 2022!). During this time he earned his Master’s in Social Studies Education from Boston University.
He is thrilled to be supporting Massachusetts and Rhode Island teachers as they implement action civics projects. He lives in Franklin, MA with his wife, three daughters, dog, and backyard chickens.
